I love books that are inherently filled with wisdom that makes you laugh. It’s certainly better than the the type that comes from a mean older person looking to school you. Though fear can be effective in changing daily habits, I think that humor is one of the often overlooked ways at coaxing you to finally agree that something’s gotta give.
In this case, that ‘something’ is food.
As the esteemed Michael Pollan so succinctly puts it, “Food Rules”. But really he’s talking about a set of “Rules” that people can use in those all-too-often “I don’t know how to eat” dilemmas that confuses the general public into over-praising incredibly sub-par food.
It’s actually ‘Grandmom wisdom” that you’re kids will love and witty enough that you won’t forget it. “Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual” gets you thinking in ways about what you’re eating that you probably haven’t considered before.
Though the book isn’t specifically geared toward any particular crowd (let alone us Gluten-Free folks), you’ll find the general tenets which I personally do my best to follow. Common sense is what dictates the knowledge contained in this book that reads similarly to that of a Tweet – short and sweet.
So if you’re one of those people who catch themselves constantly uttering “I don’t know what to eat”, then this book is for you. It’ll get your brain cogs spinning about how your food ended up on your plate as well as what might be a better, but truly simple answer to eating the ‘right way”.
And maybe you’ll catch yourself bursting out laughing as you breeze through this short, easy-to-read Manual wishing to share nuggets of Mr. Pollan’s incredible down-to-earth wisdom with your family and friends. I mean… how can you not love the idea that “If it came from a plant, eat it; if it was made in a plant, don’t”!!
But wait — would you love to win a copy of the book for yourself?
