Does Gluten Cause Cancer? with Susan Silberstein, Ph.D
Have you ever wondered … “Does gluten cause cancer?”? I have. And now we know that being sensitive to gluten, especially if you’ve got unresolved damage from celiac disease, elevates your risk of certain cancers like lymphoma.
That’s why I sat down with Susan Silberstein, Ph.D, the president of BeatCancer.org who does incredible work to help those who are hoping to avoid a cancer diagnosis or presently fighting one to get and stay free and clear.
Over the past 35 years, Susan has trained 50,000 prevention-seekers, has educated thousands of health care professionals, and has personally counseled more than 25,000 cancer patients.
Her organization works with people all across the US and it’s services are incredibly valuable and appreciated. I know this because after this interview aired months ago, I received a deluge of grateful emails from folks who’ve been helped by BeatCancer.org for spending the time to spread Susan’s message.
If you want to know why Susan advises folks to completely give up things like gluten and dairy, what foods are in her arsenal of anti-inflammatory recipes as well as some serious lifestyle choices you might want to rethink, then listen in.
You’re sure to be inspired and wowed by Susan’s story… one that grew out of incredible personal tragedy because of cancer and how she’s making sure that every diagnosed person beats cancer.
Should you want to purchase copies of Susan’s books from which all proceeds go to support BeatCancer.org, you can get them right HERE.
Love Susan Silberstein and her work – a wise, wise woman and a pioneer in the wellness world. Thanks for sharing this helpful info!

Sorry about that Ginger! It’s up now. Thanks for letting me know 🙂
My oncologist in RI, had told me 10 years ago about a possible link between lymphoma and celiac disease. I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphona in 2003. I had surgery for partial removal of my parotid gland and numerous scans, bone marrow biopsy, bloodwork, I went thru 1 month of radiation and IV antibody therapy. I became anemic (lost 25 lbs in 1 month). My gastroenterologist did an endoscopy and found that my villi were worn down to almost nothing. He ordered special blood tests and confirmed that I indeed had CELIAC DISEASE. It is amazing, I feel 100% better since being on a gluten free diet.
I had Hodgkin’s disease when I was 13, which is a type of lymphoma. I’ve never been tested for celiac but went gluten free about five years ago after realizing most of my health challenges were connected to at the very least, a gluten intolerance.
All of my inflammation markers: previous acne, asthma, joint pain, stomach problems and fatigue went away as I healed my gut. I also feel very empowered that I’m helping prevent a secondary cancer reoccurrence. My hope is one day all oncologists recommend going gluten-free in addition to other pertinent treatments.
There is no doubt in my mind there is a strong link. My sister has celiac, my Dad’s Mother died of stomach cancer and I believe she was probably celiac too but never diagnosed. So thankful people like Jen and Susan are out here giving a voice to this very important piece of evidence.
Thanks to you both.
I had been prescribed with IBS for years, but I had begun to throw up very often, after which I would be sick for a couple of days. I finally went to the doctor, had many tests and it was discovered that I had gluten intolerance and cancer. The first oncologist I saw said I had cancer in my small intestion, then the second opinion was lymphoma. I had several months of chemo and am now in remission. I totally feel that if I had not been found to have gluten intolerance, we would not have found the cancer.
Hi Jennifer,
I’ve devoted a decade to researching the hazards of gluten, going to conferences, talking to patients and professionals and writing my award-winning book, Toxic Staple: How Gluten May Be Wrecking Your Health and What You Can Do About It!
I am reaching out in hopes you might consider reviewing my health and life-transforming book…written to empower millions who are sick and tired of being sick and tired. About 60 stories of rejuvenated health are supported with nearly 700 easy-to-read citations from international research. Over 300 symptoms and diseases are linked to gluten through massive research yet unawareness among our doctors is huge and testing leaves much to be desired. I spell it out in Toxic Staple.
I’m happy to send a copy of the book. My endorsements from those in-the-know suggest doctors should be reading it. And it was featured by Dr. Rodney Ford as one of the 3 go to books on the bigger view of gluten beyond celiac disease. You will find the video on my site..upper left home page at min 9. http://www.toxicstaple.com
Hope to hear from you.
Best of health,
Anne
