If you love sweet strawberries, you’ll love Sweet & Savory Strawberry Avocado Salad. It’s simple, clean and happens to be naturally gluten-free, vegan and paleo. Oh yeah, and it’s delicious!
I created this salad last summer after buying some organic, locally-grown, sun-ripened strawberries. They were so good that I decided to pair them with fresh cucumbers and yummy avocado.
Strawberry Avocado Salad: Summer Yum!
Refreshing salads that mix seasonal fruit enhanced by simple spices are tastebud pleasers. You might recall my Sweet & Spicy Fig Salad which has been a huge hit since it was posted.
Not only do these types of salads look incredibly appetizing, but they totally hit the spot. This Strawberry Avocado Salad easily pairs well with chicken (Try my Pan-Browned Chicken recipe that’s only 3 ingredients!). It’s also a great way to get your hit of sweetness without needing dessert!
If you’re nervous about picking the right avocado, don’t fret! Here’s my simple guide to getting the best ones when you go to the store and how to store them.
Strawberries are an excellent source of Vitamin C and are a wonderful low glycemic fruit (meaning they won’t spike blood sugar). One serving of strawberries is equal to one cup of sliced berries and though you won’t use that much in your salad, you could add them to your morning smoothie or have them as dessert. And don’t forget all their wonderful antioxidants!
Either way you slice it (ha, pun intended!), strawberries are great for you diet. I would suggest that you try to buy them organic when possible because they sit pretty high up on the Dirty Dozen Food List (as all berries do). But if that’s not financially possible, consider growing your own! You can buy them at any gardening and home supply store and they come back year after year. Just make sure to plant them in a contained space or else they can start taking over your garden with their runners and shoots.
