Spicy Vegan Cherry Smoothie

Cherry smoothie in glass with mint leaves and fresh berries

Need a jumpstart in your mornings? Check out this easy-to-make vegan cherry smoothie that’s packed with protein and healthy fats!

With cherry season just upon us, now is the perfect time to use fresh cherries (or buy them frozen) in your smoothies.

If you’re like me, you may have found that seasonal allergies cause you to be more phlegmy. To cut down on the mucus, add a couple small dashes of cayenne pepper. You’ll get little tingle in the back of the throat that helps to clear out the mucus!

And other unfortunate mucus-producers include dairy and banana… so to make your smoothies frothy without the added phlegm, use coconut milk (not the dairy alternative, but rather the liquid sold in the can). It’s loaded with healthy fats that keep your blood sugar stable and support fat-burning throughout your morning.

Because we’re using cherries as the carb source, you don’t need to add the banana since the coconut milk here will make this smoothie quite creamy.

That’s why this vegan cherry smoothie recipe is so perfect for late spring and early summer! Give it a go and see how energized you feel throughout your morning.

Spicy Vegan Cherry Smoothie

I think I got cherry-jacked this morning and it was oh sooo good. My wonderful cousin Lisa from LA, who introduced me to spicing up my smoothies, challenged me to stop using bananas every darn time I blend one up. I love the thicker consistency that the bananas create and find that smoothies lacking them are just too darn watery.
