Who doesn’t love crunchy granola with the right amount of sweetness? I certainly do and am game to try most gluten-free granolas out there on the market. My one caveat is sugar. I definitely look at the sugar content and lately have become so disgusted with sugary granolas on the market that I started to bake my own (which is also much more cost effective as well!).
Now, I’d heard somewhere along the grapevine that Purely Elizabeth was creating a new product line that was granola-based. AND I heard it was really good. But I wanted to judge for myself, of course! Fortunately I won a contest through their Facebook page (I’m telling you, it definitely pays to ‘like’ companies’ Facebook pages because you can get some great information and products out of doing so. Hint, hint!) and won a box of her Ancient Grains Granola.
Upon opening the box, the smell was very appetizing! One handful of the perfectly-sized clusters without any ‘milk’ and she had me. Even my husband (the normal eater in the house) was extremely excited about the taste and crunch. Seriously… Ancient Grain Granola is probably the best granola I’ve ever tried. I kid you not. It’s that good.
Even with ‘milk’ (I use unsweetened, unflavored almond), the granola retains it’s crunch unlike many that end up rather soggy. Plus, Purely Elizabeth has figured out how to utilize Coconut Palm Sugar, a lower glycemic, mineral-rich sweetener, to offer just the right amount of sweet to the cinnamon-y crunch.
Blending gluten-free oats, quinoa flakes and amaranth with chia seeds and spices, Purely Elizabeth’s got a real winner on her hands. One that combines wholesome REAL food with incredible taste. Plus, it’s vegan & soy-free. I can’t wait to see this in the Whole Foods (Plymouth Meeting, PA) near me along with her muffin and cookie mixes already on the shelves.
The tagline for Ancient Grain Granola points out that “Granola just got an upgrade.” I’d have to emphatically agree! Give it a try. I promise this is one granola that won’t disappoint.
