Being that Valentine’s Day is coming, I couldn’t help myself from sharing with you another favorite chocolate find! Something totally unique in flavor, texture and character. GFS friends– meet Taza Chocolate‘s Mexicano Chocolate wheels. Mmmm… they’re so good!
I personally love chocolate (I’ve rarely met a woman who doesn’t) and, though I enjoy pure bars that primarily feature cacao sourced from exotic locals around the globe, every now and then I can’t help myself from experiencing the creative culinary blends out there on the market. Chocolate goes with so many different flavors and can sometimes surprise you when combined in odd pairings.
At Taza, their Chocolate Mexicano wheels are something to experience. They’ve seriously got some killer flavors that Alex and the Taza team have crafted through their own obsessive quest for the best ingredients available. When I say ‘flavors’, I’m not talking about those fake flavors chemically manipulated in a lab. Taza’s using 100% real ingredients to enhance their cacao beans – real vanilla bean, almonds, spices, coffee, citrus oils, and ginger.
Perhaps you’re wondering what’s so wonderful about these Mexicano wheels? As I already said, this chocolate is 100% real, organic, fair-trade, gluten-free, & dairy-free ingredients sourced from all over the globe in ways that financially honor and support the cacao-growers to cultivate excellent crops year-after-year. Once here, Taza produces the final product in Boston, MA by grinding these excellent ingredients on hand-cut stone mills. The process creates a certain ‘gritty’ character which pops with powerful flavor accents as each piece melts in your mouth.
There are moments when it’s a good thing to be a food snob, and this is one of them. Taza’s Mexicano Chocolate wheels are some of the best chocolate blends I’ve yet to try. My favorite flavors are the Salted Almond, Vanilla, Salt & Pepper and Cinnamon. For those who love some real spice and heat, check out their Ginger, Chipotle Chili and Guajillo Chili. You can eat the little sections one-by-one (and trust me, one or two are totally satisfying) or create some interesting hot chocolate with your favorite milk.
